A frontline stalwart of the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Rajab has condemned in strong terms an attack by suspected thugs targeted at the Senator representing Kogi East, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho.
According to Rajab, “the recent shift from orchestrated misunderstandings through gossips, blackmail, lies, and fabrications to a physical attack on our senator is a concerning development”.
Rajab further urged the criminal elements to turn a new leaf while hinting that the gentility of the Senator should not be mistaken as cowardice.
The statement reads in part:
“I urge a departure from this malevolent disposition and a plea to leave our senator undisturbed. It is crucial to recognize that he harbors no ill will toward anyone.
“While our senator’s quiet demeanor may be misconstrued, it is essential to understand that, when pushed to the wall, he will inevitably react. Governor Yahaya Bello, known for his transparency in actions and feelings, would not engage in clandestine maneuvers.
“The individual leading the team that targeted our senator displayed childish, reckless behavior, and disrespect, tarnishing the image of our state. Such actions contribute nothing but cheap mischief, and he should desist from seeking cheap relevance through such means.
“Associating this unfortunate incident with the governor is a baseless attempt at propagating cheap blackmail. Those who, driven by selfish interests, spread false gossip to the governor will soon be exposed, as God will reveal their misdeeds to the world.
“We fervently pray for God’s continuous protection over our senator and governor. May their relationship be strengthened day by day, and may any attempts to sow discord be thwarted. Inshaallah, the enemies seeking to undermine this relationship will be put to shame.
“Let us collectively strive for unity, understanding, and harmony, working towards the betterment of our state.
Inshaallah, our prayers for peace and justice will prevail.
Best regards,
Rajab”.
Recall that Senator Echocho was attacked on Tuesday in the aftermath of a meeting with the Governor of Kogi state, Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello at the vicinity of the Government House (Lugard House), in Lokoja.
A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Mohammed Onogwu, on Wednesday, revealed that six persons are presently in custody in connection to the attack.
