In what can be described as the oldest living human being in the world, the remains of a man who lived for 200 years will be laid to rest in Ndem Ebom, Uruan LGA of Akwa-Ibom state on Friday, 10 February 2023.
According to family sources, the deceased, Obong Edem Akpan Nwa, was born about 200 years ago.
However, many social media debaters have argued the authenticity of his age hinting it is “unbelievable”.
According to The Guinness World Record, “The oldest living woman – and person – whose date of birth can be authenticated is Marรญa Branyas Morera (USA/Spain, b. 4 March 1907), who was aged 115 years 319 days as of 17 January 2023″.
If Akpan Edem’s age is confirmed to be true, then the Guinness world record need to be updated.
The deceased was a traditional ruler and a Great grandfather.
African masquerades are expected to display during his funeral rites slated for Friday.
